Live Classes from NDSU

The live Friday morning classes from NDSU are streamed using Zoom, allowing students to participate remotely. This option is ideal for those who cannot attend in-person classes on campus.

Online Participation Options

For students outside of Fargo, there are two methods of participating in class: online or through NDSU Campus. The Core Course participants can join faculty and other Extension Master Gardeners live on campus in Fargo, ND.

Course Fee and Certification

The course fee for the live classes is higher since no community service is required. This option will not lead to Extension Master Gardener certification or participation in our conferences or group trips. On the other hand, participating in the course with volunteerism requires a reduced fee.

Pro-Horticulture Course

Applications are no longer being accepted for 2024 Pro-Horticulture Course. However, students can still participate in the Master Gardener Core Course and learn about various topics such as soils, fertilizers, plant diseases, insect pests, weeds, wildlife issues, composting, and much more.

Course Options and Certification

Upon completion of your two-year internship, you become a Certified Master Gardener Volunteer. To maintain active status, you must complete minimums of volunteer and education hours. As part of the certification process, we ask that you pay it forward by volunteering in your community for 48 hours in cooperation with your County Extension Office in your first two years.
